Reading Instruction and Reading Response Assignments
RR 1. Story Mapping Use this Instruction Sheet with this Activity: Preparation Questions before Starting
RR 2. Plot Diagram Prepare a list of the Events that make up the Exposition, the Rising Action, the Turning Point, the Falling Action and the Resolution before starting this activity. Plot Diagram graphic organizers are available to guide you.
Follow the onscreen instructions and print when you are done.
RR. 3. Cube Creator Choose Story Cube to summarize the key elements in a story, including character, setting, conflict, resolution, and theme. Before you begin, fill out a Story Plot planning sheet for the Story Cube, a Mystery planning sheet for the Mystery Cube or a Biography planning sheet for a BioCube. Follow the directions to fill in each side of the cube. Save to the P: drive and ask Mrs. Case to print on cardstock so you can fold and display your Cube.
RR 4. Character Trading Cards These can be used to make cards on characters, events, settings, or any topic you choose (Types of Energy Cards, Rocks and Minerals Cards, Animal or Plant Cards, Planets and Solar System Cards.)
RR 5. Interactive Lesson on Making Inferences about Characters. When you reach THE END screen, Choose Try More Practice. Repeat 4 or more times. You may get the same passage twice. Use the information from the lesson to make some Inferences about Characters using your independent reading book and create a journal entry.
